-Walkthrough-
Walkthrough
by Nightwalker
Difficulty
- Expert
(Note:
Any doors that aren't indicated as requiring a key are either unlocked
or can be picked open.)
Mansion
Grounds
You
begin in a passageway so walk along it and into the grounds around
the mansion. Don't forget to read Garrett's notes, which are in
your inventory, to get an idea of what the mission is about. This
area is fairly heavily guarded so move carefully. To darken things
a bit, you can pick the glowing mushrooms. Don't attempt to blackjack
the guard that is standing to the left (W) of the front stairs.
It can't be done and only alerts him. Why he is like this is explained
in notes and books throughout the mission. He's wearing the "House
key" so steal it from him then continue around to the west
toward an open passageway. Just before you enter it, look in the
bush to your left (W) for a silver nugget, worth 50g. Continue through
the archway and look for a door on your left. Unlock it with the
"House key" and go in.
Mansion - Guard and Servant Quarters
Just
inside the door, on your left, is the locked door into the Armory
and the note beside it tells you that Capt. Rambot has the key.
Continue ahead, up the stairs and turn right, keeping an eye out
for two guards that patrol this corridor. One of them is wearing
a purse, worth 100g. (150).
The first room on the right is a guard barracks room. There's a
gold coin, worth 5g. (155) and some water arrows in the footlockers.
Look on one of the tables for a pile of loose change, worth 20g.
(175).
The next room is another bedroom where you'll find a flashbomb in
one of the footlockers and a scroll to read. The last room on the
right is another guard barracks and you'll find a pile of loose
change, worth 20g. (195), lying on one of the tables. There are
3 broadheads in one of the footlockers.
The door across from this one takes you into the Guards' common
room. The guard sitting at the table is wearing another copy of
the "House key". Go upstairs and over to a locked door
which opens with the "House key". The first suite on the
left belongs to Capt. Rambot. Look under the desk in the office
for a gold wine bottle, worth 50g. (245) then go through to the
sitting room. There's an invisibility potion inside the black chest
and a gold wine bottle, worth 50g. (295) and a purple goblet, worth
15g. (310), sitting on the coffee table. Read the scroll that's
lying on the stove and continue through to the bedroom. Check the
left (S) wall for a coat hook that you can frob. This triggers Secret
#1 and you'll hear something move in the sitting room. Go back out
and look in the NW corner. You'll find the "Armory key"
which was hidden under a plant. Head back down to the Armory door,
unlock it with the key and help yourself to the weapons stored inside.
Now
that you're properly equipped, return upstairs, go past Capt. Rambot's
rooms and into the Guard's office next door. There's a pile of coins,
worth 20g. (330), sitting on one desk beside a book and a couple
of coins, worth 40g. (370), sitting on the ledge below the books
to the left of this desk. You'll find a few more water arrows in
the chest against the other wall. That's it for this room, so leave,
walk east up the hallway and unlock the door into the nobles' section
of the upstairs.
Upper Floor
Go
through the door to the right into a suite of rooms. In the first
room, there's a purse, worth 100g. (470), tucked in on top of a
book in the east bookcase and a small jar, worth 20g. (490), sitting
on the window ledge. There are 2 more jars, worth 40g. (530), sitting
on the mantel in the sitting room as well as a gold bottle of wine,
worth 50g. (580), and 2 gold goblets, worth 50g. (630), that have
been left on the coffee table. Walk up the stairs to the bedroom
and look under the left bed for a carton of cigarettes. This completes
the objective to find a carton to sell on the black market.
Return
to the hallway, turn right and pick up a jar, worth 20g. (650),
from the ledge on the right. The door across the hall opens into
a bathroom where you'll be able to pick up a necklace, worth 200g.
(850), from the bathwater. The next door on the right requires a
key that you don't have yet so go past it and into the small bedroom
that is straight ahead. Here, you'll find a gold wine bottle, worth
50g. (900), a gold plate, worth 50g. (950), a gold goblet, worth
25g. (975), and a gold candlestick, worth 50g. (1025).
Walk
east along the hallway past some bookshelves on the left, past the
next door, which opens onto the back staircase and enter the next
room on the right. This is a very nice sitting room with a balcony
outside. Look on top of a book in the bookcase to the right (S)
for a tiny gold ring, worth 100g. (1125) then go up the stairs and
pick up a plate, worth 50g. (1175), a glass goblet, worth 15g. (1190),
and 2 gold candlesticks, worth 100g. (1290). Open the balcony doors,
look to the left (E) and you'll see a section of bricks that are
a slightly different colour in the end wall. Remove them and behind
them you'll find another carton of cigarettes. This one is the one
for your Landlord so that objective is now complete.
Back
in the hallway, turn left and pick up a jar, worth 20g. (1310),
from a ledge. The doors at this end of the hallway are all locked
so go back past the door you entered this section by and down to
a small sitting area on the left. There are 2 tall jars, worth 40g.
(1350), and two short jars, worth 40g. (1390), sitting on the tables
here.
Continue
north along the hallway and you'll find a jar, worth 20g. (1410),
sitting on a ledge just past the glass doors that open onto the
main stairway down to the lower level. Go around the corner and
into the storeroom on the right where you'll find a gold wine bottle,
worth 50g. (1460) that is lying behind the painting propped up against
the wall.
Past
the storeroom door is a locked door on the left. It requires a key
which you don't have as yet so go past it and into the next room,
where there's a carton of cigarettes inside a fish tank. They're
too soggy to be useful so ignore them and grab the gold candlestick,
worth 50g. (1510), that is sitting on the table.
There's
a vase, worth 50g. (1560), sitting on a table in the alcove at the
end of this hallway and the door here is locked and requires a key.
That's all you can do upstairs right now so walk back to the glass
doors on the left and go downstairs.
Main Floor
In
the room just past the bottom of the stairs, there's a jar, worth
20g. (1580), sitting on a table. Three guards patrol into this room
and one of them is wearing another copy of the "House"
key. Through the door to the south is a room with a display cabinet
that contains two gold candlesticks, worth 100g. (1680), a teapot,
worth 25g. (1705), a gold plate, worth 50g. (1755), 3 bottles of
wine, worth 150g. (1905), 3 gold goblets, worth 75g. (1980), and
3 china plates, worth 30g. (2010). In the sitting room beyond this
room, there's a glass goblet, worth 15g. (2025).
East
of the room at the bottom of the stairs is another large open room
where you'll find a fancy dish, worth 50g. (2075), a candelabra,
worth 50g. (2125), and an ornate vase, worth 50g. (2175). Continue
east through this room and into a hallway where there's a man standing
in the corner, admiring a painting on an easel. He's wearing a purse,
worth 100g. (2275), so help yourself to it. Just beyond him is a
door to the back stairway and there's a gold wine bottle, worth
50g. (2325) and 2 glass goblets, worth 30g. (2355), sitting on a
tea cart here, near the base of the stairs.
The
double glass doors to the east open into a large dining room. Here,
you can add a teapot, worth 25g. (2380), a gold plate, worth 50g.
(2430), a gold wine bottle, worth 50g. (2480), 2 green wine bottles,
worth 100g. (2580), three glass plates, worth 30g. (2610), 4 glass
bowls, worth 40g, (2650), and 13 glass goblets, worth 65g. (2715)
to your bag of loot. Don't forget to take the plate, worth 10g.
(2725), that is hanging on the wall over the fireplace. Go through
the door on the south wall into a corridor and turn left (E) along
another hallway.
The
first room on the left is the kitchen, where you'll find 4 china
plates, worth 40g. (2765), a teapot, worth 25g. (2790), a gold plate,
worth 50g. (2840), a vase, worth 50g. (2890), 4 gold goblets, worth
100g. (2990), 3 gold wine bottles, worth 150g. (3140) and a green
wine bottle, worth 50g. (3190). There's also a gold urn, worth 100g.
(3290), 2 red bags of spice, worth 80g. (3370), 2 glass goblets,
worth 30g. (3400) and 3 gold mugs, worth 15g. (3415). There's a
note on the counter and "Lady Lotti's Room" key is sitting
on top of it. The door on the east wall leads into the servants'
room where there's a purse, worth 100g. (3515), tucked inside the
armoire and a healing fruit sitting in a dish on the table.
Down
the hall past the kitchen door there's a gold candlestick, worth
50g. (3565), sitting on top of an armoire. Around the corner is
the door into Friend Talpa's office. Inside his office is a locked
green safe that you need to find a key for and if you look under
his desk, you'll see a purse, worth 100g. (3665).
Leave
his office and turn left (E) down a short hallway that ends in a
set of double doors. There's a bedroom on the left where you can
pick up a teapot, worth 25g. (3690), a gold plate, worth 50g. (3740),
and a gold pocket watch, worth 5g. (3745).
Burrick Yard, stables and basement
Unlock
the double doors at the end of the hallway with the "House"
key and go out into the burrick yard. Cross to the far side and
enter a small apartment where you'll find a purse, worth 100g. (3845),
inside the armoire, some loose coins, worth 20g. (3865), and another
pile of loose coins, worth 20g. (3885), hidden up in the rafters.
The man standing in here is wearing the "Basement" key.
Now that you have it, return to the yard and creep past the baby
burricks to the far north side. Try not to alert the burricks as
they are pretty much invincible from eating so many of the mushrooms.
You'll find a silver nugget, worth 50g. (3935), tucked in the corner
behind a bush. Creep into the burrick stable and look on the floor
for the "Safe" key then head over to the basement stairs
that are on the opposite side of the yard from the stables. Use
the "Basement" key to unlock the door at the bottom and
enter.
There
are two guards patrolling in here and one of them is wearing another
copy of the "Basement" key. Directly across from the entrance
door is a storeroom where you'll find a statue worth 15g. (3950)
in a chest. Now walk over and examine the big statue that is standing
against one wall. Frob the candle in the statue's hands to trigger
Secret #2. The crate beside it moves away from the wall and in behind
it you'll find a small treasure trove that contains a ring, worth
100g. (4050), a purse, worth 100g. (4150), 2 gold goblets, worth
50g. (4200), and 6 piles of coins, worth 120g. (4320).
Return
to the hall, turn right (N) and the next room is an old workshop
where you'll pick up a drill bit, worth 250g. (4570), from a tool
box. The last room is the wine cellar, which is occupied by a drunken
guard. There are 3 gold wine bottles, worth 150g. (4720), and 3
green wine bottles, worth 150g. (4870). If you look closely, you'll
also find 2 coins, worth 40g. (4910), on the bottom SE shelf and
one more coin, worth 20g. (4930), on the lower NW shelf. You've
cleared out the basement so return to the house.
Back Inside
Now
that you have the safe key, return to Friend Talpa's office and
open the safe with it. Inside, you'll find "Lord J's Office"
key. Back in the hallway, turn right (S) and continue exploring.
The next room on the left is an office. Read the scroll on the shelves
and you'll get a new objective to find evidence of co-operation
between Lord J. and the cigarette smuggler. Beside the scroll is
a small box that contains a gold coin, worth 5g. (4935) and you
can pick up a pile of coins, worth 20g. (4955), from one of the
desks. That completes the exploration of this hallway as the double
doors at the end only open back onto the front garden so turn around
and go back the way you came, past the kitchen door and through
the red curtain at the end of the hallway, back into the hallway
with the easel.
Walk
north through the archway that is curtained with beige draperies
and unlock the door on the left with "Lord J's Office"
key. There's a gold wine bottle, worth 50g. (5005) and a glass goblet,
worth 15g. (5020), sitting on a table to the left. Take the statue,
worth 15g. (5035), that is mounted above the fireplace and grab
2 copper coinstacks, worth 10g. (5045), from the desk. Frob a red
book on the east shelves and the painting behind the desk slides
up. In behind it, you'll find the "Library" key as well
as 2 silver nuggets, worth 100g. (5145), and a glass dish, worth
50g. (5195). There are 2 jars, worth 40g. (5235), and a globe, worth
25g. (5260), on the east shelves and on the west shelves, you'll
find a gold coin, worth 5g. (5265), in a small box beside a scroll.
Take a black chest, worth 5g. (5270), from the right side of the
top shelf and pick up a letter that is tucked in beside the books
on the left side of the same shelf. This is a letter from Davidson
and completes the objective to find evidence of co-operation between
Lord J. and the smuggler.
Leave
the office and go through the double glass doors on the left into
a sitting room. You'll find a book, worth 25g. (5295), and a gold
goblet, worth 25g. (5320), sitting on the coffee table. There's
a vase, worth 20g. (5340), and a gold candlestick, worth 50g. (5390),
sitting on the mantle. Check the wall to the right of the fireplace
for a small lever. Flip it to trigger Secret #3. This opens the
glass doors of the display cabinet full of valuables. They include
a glass dish, worth 12g. (5402), a tiara, worth 125g. (5527), a
fancy dish, worth 50g. (5577), a gold pocket watch, worth 25g. (5602),
3 glass goblets, worth 45g. (5647), 2 glass ornaments, worth 50g.
(5697), a candelabra, worth 50g. (5747), and a globe, worth 25g.
(5772).
Library, Lord J's and Lady Lotti's Rooms
Leave
the sitting room, turn left (E) and go through a curtained archway.
The double doors directly across from you open into the Library
but before you go in there to explore, there are a few other rooms
to check out. Turn left (N) through another curtained archway and
into a big open room. There are 2 candelabra, worth 100g. (5872),
sitting on the window ledges to the left. The double doors on the
east side of this room lead into a Music room. In here you can add
a fancy dish, worth 50g. (5922), a candelabra, worth 50g. (5972),
and a silver flute, worth 50g. (6022), to your haul. That's it for
this room, so leave, turn right (N) and go into the next room then
go left (W) into a small room. There are 3 gold wine bottles, worth
150g. (6172), and 3 glass goblets, worth 45g. (6217), sitting on
a tea cart in here and there's a gold candlestick, worth 50g. (6267),
on the round table.
West
through the glass door is a gaming room where you can help yourself
to 2 gold coinstacks, worth 50g. (6317) and 2 piles of loose coin,
worth 40g. (6357) on the table to the right of the doorway and a
coin, worth 20g. (6377), lying on the floor by one of the table
legs. There are 2 coins, worth 40g. (6417), on top of the other
table.
Now
return to the Library doors, unlock them with the "Library"
key and enter. On a table to the right, there's a glass goblet,
worth 15g. (6432). Go up the stairs and check the bookcase ledge
in the NE corner for a coin, worth 20g. (6452), then walk around
to the left (W), turn south across the walkway and check the bookcase
ledges right in front of you for 2 more coins, worth 40g. (6492).
Go through the door on the south wall and into a small, private
reading room. Here you'll acquire a gold wine bottle, worth 50g.
(6542), a gold goblet, worth 25g. (6567), a gold candlestick, worth
50g. (6617), and a jar, worth 20g. (6637). Rope arrow up into the
rafters and you'll find a purse, worth 100g. (6737), hidden up here.
Go out onto the balcony and you'll find a gold wine bottle, worth
50g. (6787).
Go
back to the main Library room, rope arrow up into the rafters, walk
west along them to a hole in the wall and climb through. You'll
find yourself in the rafters of Lord J's bedroom and he's snoring
on the bed below. Climb down and read his diary, which is lying
on the bed beside him and you'll get a new objective to find evidence
of a secret arrangement between Lord J. and the Mechanists. The
black chest holds an invisibility potion and there are 2 gold candlesticks,
worth 100g. (6887), on the fireplace mantle. The second black chest
contains "Lord J's Room" key. Look under the edge of his
bed for a tiny gold ring, worth 100g. (6987).
The
door on the south wall leads into his bathroom where you can pick
up a gold urn, worth 100g. (7087), a gold candlestick, worth 50g.
(7137), and a healing potion. This puts you over the required loot
amount of 7000g. so that objective is now completed. Look in the
bathwater for the "Nursery" key. Climb back up into the
rafters, walk to the west side and you'll find another convenient
hole. On the way through to the next room, look for a carton of
cigarettes which completes the objective to steal a carton of cigarettes
to help Slitty.
Climb
down into Lord J's private sitting room. Here you'll find a gold
candlestick, worth 50g. (7187), a teapot, worth 25g. (7212) and
a gold plate, worth 50g. (7262). Push a button on the left side
of the display cabinet to open the doors and inside there's a black
chest, worth 25g. (7287), a vase, worth 50g, (7337), a gold vase,
worth 25g. (7362), 2 glass ornaments, worth 50g. (7412), 2 glass
goblets, worth 30g. (7442), a gold wine bottle, worth 50g. (7492),
2 green wine bottles, worth 100g. (7592), and a golden falcon figurine,
worth 25g. (7617).
Unlock
the west door with "Lord J's Room" key and go out into
the upstairs hall. Walk along the hall, around the corner and then
straight ahead to one of the locked doors you couldn't open when
you explored this floor earlier. Unlock it with "Lady Lotti's
Room" key and enter. Lady Lotti is standing in front of the
fire but don't try to blackjack her. She's been into the mushrooms,
too. Make sure you take the "Pool" key, though, which
she is wearing at her waist. There's a gold plate, worth 50g. (7667),
and a glass goblet, worth 15g. (7682), sitting on the coffee table.
There's a jar, worth 20g. (7702), and a gold candlestick, worth
50g. (7752), sitting on the fireplace mantle and a mask, worth 25g.
(7777), hanging on the wall above. Up the stairs, in her bedroom,
you'll find a gem, worth 100g. (7877), locked in a blue chest and
a diary lying on her bed. Read it and you'll get a new objective
to find Capt. Davidson. Check out her bathroom to pick up a gold
falcon statue, worth 25g. (7902), sitting on the window sill, a
purse, worth 100g. (8002), tucked in behind the brush and mirror
and a ring, worth 100g. (8102), sitting on the edge of the tub near
the taps. There's also a healing potion sitting on the counter.
Now
to find the nursery and the pool! Leave Lotti's room, turn right
(W) and follow the hallway almost all the way to the alcove that
has the big bookcases in it. Just before you turn the corner to
that section, there's a locked door on the right. Unlock it with
the "Nursery" key and go in. There's a gold candlestick,
worth 50g. (8152), and a set of dice, worth 50g. (8202), sitting
on the windowsill. Just to the right of the cradle, there's a tiny
brown teddy. Frob it and the armoire will slide sideways. Behind
it is a lever to open the secret lab. Pull it, then leave the nursery,
turn right and go through the bookcase section of the hall. Take
the back stairs down to the main floor, walk north through the beige
curtains then turn right (E) and go through another beige curtained
doorway. In the next room, turn left and walk to the double wood
doors at the far end. Unlock them with the "Pool" key.
The Pool and the Secret Lab
Walk
around the pool to the northeast corner and search a small bush
to find a tiara, worth 125g. (8327) then walk west to the next corner
where you'll see some freshly turned earth and a pick. Frob the
pick, the earth pile moves aside and you'll see Capt. Davidson buried
underneath. The objective to find him will tick off. Just past this
corner are the doors into the pool changing room. In here, you'll
find a candelabra, worth 50g. (8377) and behind one of the corner
screens there's a blue chest that contains the last carton of cigarettes
that you needed to find.
The
last thing you need to do is locate the secret lab. Go back into
the house, walk south and go through the red curtain into the kitchen
area. Go into the dining room, out the south door and turn left
down that hallway. Continue past Friend Talpa's office to the very
end of the hallway where there's a set of locked doors. Unlock them
with the "House" key and you'll see you're on the east
side of the front garden. Walk to the left and follow the wall past
the guard standing near the corner. Just past him, around the corner,
is an open door. That's the secret Lab. Walk through the door and
the objective to find it ticks off. There's a gold skull, worth
25g. (8402), sitting on the middle set of shelves. Rope arrow up
to the top shelf above the skull and pick up a scroll sitting there.
The objective to find evidence of secret arrangements between Lord
J and the Mechanists should now be completed. There's a secret room
in the Lab but you may not want to open it. If your curiosity gets
the better of you, frob the shoes on the skeleton.
Leave
the Lab, walk east across the front garden, turn right along the
far side of the house and go through the archway. Continue all the
way through and out into another small garden. Walk over to the
back gate and the mission will end.
